14.09.2023 Company run Mainz – We keep on running
After our participation in 2019 and 2022, the Mainz company run took place again on September 14, 2023. For us, one thing was certain again this year: we would be there!
Together with a total of 8,000 other participants, we took on the challenge of the 5 km course. With pleasant temperatures and a warm welcome at the finish with plenty of refreshments, we were pleased with our results.
As always, it was a successful event that strengthened our team spirit and we are glad to have taken part.
01.01.2023 Leadership change at Umforana: Julia Drakidis has been the exclusive Managing Director of the company since the beginning of 2023.
She takes over from Jürgen Schmid, who has been managing the company since 1991 and has now taken his well-deserved retirement.
The management will remain in familiar hands, as Julia Drakidis has been with Umforana since 1999 and has been a member of the management team since 2021.
Thanks to her many years of experience in the field of pharmaceutical analysis, she is ideally placed to take the company forward and guide it safely through some uncertain times.
12.04.2022 Successful GMP certification once again
Successful certification as a GMP laboratory is the foundation of Umforana.
The basis for this is our strong quality management system, which is regularly checked by customer and authority audits.
The last successful inspection by the German authority (Regierungspräsidium Darmstadt) took place in 2022. We have met the high standards of the regional council with great success and have once again shown that we have a strong and responsible quality management team that always passes the audits with excellence and is constantly improving and developing.
With the inspection by the German authority (Regierungspräsidium Darmstadt), Umforana is considered inspected by the FDA on the basis of the "Mutual Recognition Agreement" of November 1, 2017. We have been registered with the FDA and listed as a certified testing laboratory since 2001. We were able to impress this highly demanding authority with our system several times (2001, 2007, 2012, 2015 and 2022) and we are proud of this long history.
A good quality management system does not mean reacting, but acting and continuing to develop. To do this, it is important to keep an eye on the GMP directives and guidelines and to optimize your own system accordingly. Our quality assurance experts are trained in this area so that they are always up to date and can offer our customers the best possible quality management system.
2021 We are expanding our range of devices
In order to respond optimally to the needs and requirements of our customers and the authorities, we have expanded our equipment park. Our new ICP-MS from Perkin Elmer has been an integral part of the laboratory since 2021. This has not only enabled us to improve and speed up the analysis of individual elements, but also to implement the increasingly important measurement of elemental impurities in raw and finished products.
We also acquired a UHPLC from Shimadzu in 2021. In addition to HPLC systems from Agilent, HPLC systems from Shimadzu make up the majority of our HPLC systems. By adding a UHPLC, we can now react flexibly to customer methods. In method development, too, we have already been able to achieve a number of improvements in selectivity with UHPLC and, by expanding to a wide range of system types, we also have the opportunity to examine and demonstrate the robustness of a method in detail.
For us, not only devices for measuring samples are important, but also the constant expansion of devices for various sample preparations. With our incubators from IKA, for example, we have been able to prepare implants for release testing since 2022. These products usually remain in the incubator for several weeks at a constant shaking speed and temperature in order to simulate the release of the active ingredient of an implant product over several months.
For us, further development of our equipment also means further development of our employees. It is important to us that we train our responsible employees properly and extensively on the new equipment and continue to train them in order to meet the high laboratory standards and achieve optimum results for our customers.
The success story of Umforana GmbH & Co. KG began on October 30, 1991 in Wiesbaden-Erbenheim as a laboratory for environmental analysis and occupational medicine. Starting out as a small, regionally active company in the field of environmental analysis and environmental toxins, the vision was to offer a professional service that was flexible, individual and customer-oriented.
It was not foreseeable at the time that this would become a thirty-year success story. In 2008, the company expanded and moved into a modern laboratory building in Wiesbaden-Nordenstadt.
On the basis of our good and stable company situation, we continue to promise our customers reliability and continuity.
UMFORANA draws in particular on many years of experience in quality control for the US and Japanese markets. We operate a quality assurance system in accordance with cGMP.
We also rely on continuity with our employees - many remain loyal to the company for a long time.
We therefore wanted to celebrate 30 years of UMFORANA in style, but unfortunately the corona pandemic and all its restrictions put a stop to our plans.
